It started with an idea: “What if we joined and supported Allpack Industries’ annual medical camp this quarter?”  A moment of curiosity shared among IPS Q1 and Q2 birthday colleagues, after all, Allpack is known to have very impactful community initiatives.

At IPS, we celebrate birthdays in style and with purpose. What began as an idea came to life when Q1 and Q2 birthday babies partnered with Allpack Industries to host a free medical camp at Ngwata Primary School, Mlolongo, impacting over 1200 students with essential health services and supplementing their feeding programme.

The IPS staff volunteering programme goes beyond encouraging staff to give back, it inspires a culture of kindness, responsibility, and shared purpose. Through quarterly social philanthropy activities, our staff step out of their daily routines to connect with communities, offer their time and skills, and create moments that matter. As we drove into the school compound, excitement filled the air, students peeping through their classroom windows.  At around 8 am, after the setup, the camp began. Students arrived early and made queues, their faces full of hope and curiosity.

The students started with triage before heading to different specialties and concluded at the pharmacy, where they picked their prescriptions. It was all about team effort, our IPS Q1 and Q2 birthday babies brought their energy, big hearts, working side by side with Allpack team, doctors and health workers from a number of hospitals in Nairobi including Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, RFH Healthcare, Lifecare Hospitals, The Nairobi West Hospital, Winnie’s Pure Health, The Veteran Hospital, and Equity Afia.  One of the IPS companies, Premier Foods Ltd, also joined the bandwagon later in the day, providing their Kiddy pack orchid valley refreshments to the students.

“We’re proud to be part of this initiative, offering the students something refreshing while nourishing their health, and seeing their smiles makes it all worthwhile,” said Kevin Kimanga, a representative from Premier Foods Ltd.

Together, we reached over 1,200 students with free medical check-ups! The best part? The smiles, laughter, and little moments of connection that made the day feel less like a clinic and more like a community coming together to care.

“Many of these children rarely get to see a doctor unless they’re very sick. Today, we were able to catch issues early and offer some reassurance,” said Dr. Ashina, one of the health workers.

Within the IPS group, Allpack is amongst the companies that have the legendary background of adopting schools in their area and providing them with free mentorship, scholarship, medical camps, and tree growing initiatives.

“Ngwata Primary, for example, has been supported by Allpack since 2013, a decade plus and still counting, impacting thousands of students” said Veronica Emma, the Allpack Nurse and CSR representative’’

But the day wasn’t just about check-ups and screenings. The IPS Q1 and Q2 birthday babies had something in store for the grade 6 students, they donated 680 reusable sanitary pads from Ahadi Reusable Pads, packed in purple pouches. And because a full stomach fuels a bright mind, they also provided foodstuffs to support the school’s feeding programme.

“At IPS, we believe that healthy communities are happy communities. As a Q2 birthday baby, we showed what it means to give back, and we couldn’t be prouder,” said Evalyne Wandeto, Legal Counsel at IPS.

As the sun began to set, the camp came to a close. But the impact, the relief, the hope, the sense of being valued will last far beyond that day. And for IPS, it’s just one of many steps in our journey of supporting and uplifting the communities we serve.
