Improving the quality of life through sustainable development
Industrial Promotion Services (IPS) is the infrastructure and industrial development arm of the Aga Khan Fund for Economic Development (AKFED), which is an affiliate of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN). IPS’ core sectors include agroindustry, renewable power, telecommunications and healthcare.

1960
Import Substitution
To enable industrialisation and modernisation as well as reduce reliance on expensive imports, IPS promoted the manufacturer of goods for the domestic market.
1980
Export Orientation
In response to changing trade reforms, IPS established several industries that produce high-value-added products using locally sourced materials for the export market.
1990
Privatisation
Renowned for establishing sustainable private enterprises, IPS secured multiple bids to privatise state-owned industries specialising in leather and packaging.
2000
Infrastructure Development
IPS ventured into groundbreaking infrastructure projects in energy and telecommunications, fostering private-public partnerships and innovative financing models.
2020
Low Carbon Economy
IPS embarked on a journey to green its businesses to be vehicles that capture economic value by improving the quality of life, and protecting and restoring nature.
